Shopify speed optimization cost depends on the work your store needs. Improving loading order with an app is a different service from investigating a customized theme, reviewing third-party scripts and implementing technical changes.
A useful comparison looks at the problem being solved, the depth of implementation and the evidence delivered afterward. A low quote for recommendations is not directly comparable with a service that includes hands-on work.
Start by identifying what you are paying for
There are three common routes: improvements you make yourself, ongoing optimization through an app, and a project completed by a specialist. These can complement each other. For example, expert work can address deeper code issues while an app continues to improve loading priorities.
- DIY: suitable when you can identify and safely address a clear issue, such as an oversized image. Your time and testing effort still count as costs.
- An app: useful for supported automatic improvements and simpler ongoing management. Check the current features, subscription terms and compatibility with your storefront.
- Expert service: useful when diagnosis or implementation requires technical attention across your theme, apps and scripts.

ChopChopify’s manual optimization prices
Our three manual plans are one-time services. The distinction is the depth of technical attention and the type of store each plan is designed for.
- STARTER — $399 USD: focused optimization for new or very small stores. View the STARTER plan.
- PRO — $599 USD: deeper optimization for established stores with more apps, scripts or theme complexity. View the PRO plan.
- BLACK BELT — $999 USD: our most comprehensive optimization for serious stores prioritizing maximum performance and deeper technical attention. View the BLACK BELT plan.
Every plan includes hands-on implementation, a private project dashboard and a personalized Speed Report. Delivery is 7 working days once required store access is available. The product pages provide the current prices and package details.
How to choose the right level
Choose STARTER if your store is new or very small and you want a stronger performance foundation. It is the focused entry point, rather than a promise to investigate every possible custom integration.
Choose PRO if your store is established and its app stack or theme has become more complex. The additional depth is useful when the cause is less obvious than one large image.
Choose BLACK BELT if maximum performance is a priority and your serious store needs the deepest technical attention available in our packages. A lower test score by itself does not automatically mean you need the highest plan; complexity and the scope of the work matter.
You can compare all three on the manual optimization landing page.
What makes one project more involved than another?
A storefront using standard theme features has a different workload from one with custom product options, subscriptions, personalization and several overlapping widgets. Specialists need to understand what each feature does before changing how it loads.
More involved projects may require investigating legacy code, separating theme behavior from app behavior and testing interactions across different templates. The number of installed apps alone is not a reliable price guide: a single integration can create more work than several lightweight ones.
Questions to ask before buying speed optimization
- Will you implement the changes? Clarify whether the deliverable is an audit, recommendations or hands-on improvements.
- How is the live store protected? Ask about the working theme, backups and the launch process.
- Which pages and features are checked? Product options, cart behavior and important integrations should be part of a meaningful review.
- How are results measured? Before-and-after tests need comparable conditions. A single high screenshot score is not enough context.
- What report will I receive? Look for an explanation of the findings, completed work, validation and remaining recommendations.
Our guide to choosing a Shopify speed expert expands on these questions.
Set a practical success criterion
Decide what you want to improve before comparing prices. It might be a product image that loads late, a sluggish mobile menu or a shopping journey slowed by scripts. Use a consistent speed test to document the starting point.
Performance work can improve the experience customers encounter, but it cannot guarantee a specific conversion rate, revenue increase or search position. Those also depend on your offer, traffic, pricing and the wider shopping experience.
Choose the smallest scope that gives your store the technical attention it needs, and insist on clear implementation and reporting. That makes the investment easier to evaluate after the work is complete.
